Building and Planning

The Building and Planning Department, located in City Hall, is responsible for the development, implementation, and enforcement of ordinances and planning related development codes established to improve the physical environment and functional capabilities of the City. This Department is also charged with the task of reviewing plans and performing inspections of construction within the City limits to ensure that all structures are constructed safely and in compliance with applicable building codes and ordinances.

The Building and Planning Department handles the following:

  • Site and building plans review
  • Questions concerning zoning and flood zones
  • Development and subdivision inquiries
  • Building, electrical and plumbing permits
  • Inspection for all construction disciplines
  • GIS, mapping, and addressing
  • Applications to Architectural Review Board, Board of Zoning Appeals or Planning Commission
  • Building code questions
  • Sign approval and permits
